“A fresh batch of 5,794 pilgrims, including 1,211 women, left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp here in the early hours of Monday, July 6, 2026, for the annual Amarnath Yatra,” officials said.
“Around 60,000 pilgrims have prayed at the holy cave temple since July 3, when the yatra began,” they said.
The fifth group includes 21 children, 599 Sadhus and 76 Sadhvis, officials said. They left the base camp in separate convoys under tight security between 03.10 and 03.45.
“Of these, 3,490 pilgrims will go to Nuwan base camp in Pahalgam in 139 vehicles, while 2,304 pilgrims will go to Baltal base camp in 128 vehicles,” they said.

Pilgrims undertake the yatra simultaneously via the traditional 48 km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the shorter but steeper 14 km Baltal route in Ganderbal district.
The 57-day annual pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high cave temple in the southern Himalayas is scheduled to end on August 28 to coincide with the Raksha Bandhan festival.
