Mario Lopez denies MAGA support, calls politics ‘too divisive’ for him

Actor and TV host Mario Lopez denied supporting President Donald Trump in a now-deleted comment on Instagram, Buzzfeed reported last month.

The former “Access Hollywood” host commented on a video from last month titled “Exposing Latino MAGA Artists.” This video tagged Lopez as a “MAGA” supporter based on a past post promoting a UFC fight on the White House lawn, and also followed Trump, his son Donald Trump Jr., and the official POTUS page: According to the June 26 report.

The video also highlighted an interview from 2016 Lopez did it with Trump for “Extra” during Trump’s first presidential campaign.

However, Lopez allegedly denied supporting Trump politically and claimed that he did not even attend the UFC Freedom 250 fight.

“You need to get your facts straight,” Lopez wrote. “I interviewed Trump multiple times while he was on ‘The Apprentice.’ And I didn’t attend the White House event. At the time, I was in D.C. filming a PrimeTime special for CBS to celebrate its kids’ civics competition.”

Lopez wrote that his original UFC endorsement was in support of his friend, UFC CEO Dana White, and that he “could care less” about politics as a whole.

“Like I said, I’m not a political person. It’s very divisive. I could care less about politics. I care about my family, my community, my culture and my faith. God bless you and have a good day, but please don’t spread misinformation,” Lopez said.

On Thursday, Lopez’s former “Extra” co-host Tanika Ray added a comment to the original report, claiming that he could “verify that this is true.”

“It’s unfortunate but it’s good that the truth is coming out, maybe it will encourage him to think. But still. He is a capitalist first and foremost,” Ray wrote.

In another comment he wrote: “She’s Mexican and maga, and while that’s really confusing to me, that’s her life. He is happy with his choice. “I pray people wake up because that’s not the case.”

Fox News Digital has reached out to Lopez’s representatives for comment.
