Prince Harry begins visit to the UK as ruling expected in court battle with Daily Mail publisher – latest updates | Prince Harry

Decision awaited in Prince Harry’s court battle with Daily Mail publisher
Prince Harry will learn the outcome of the lawsuit he and others filed against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), publishers of the British tabloid Daily Mail, at around 2pm BST (9am EDT).
The long-running case centers on allegations of illegal information collection.
As my colleague noted in this story, these include allegations of wiretapping voicemails, tapping landlines, and obtaining information by deception (also known as “swearing”) by private detectives, freelance journalists, and ANL staff.
Prince Harry, also known as the Duke of Sussex, claims that 14 articles published by ANL were based on illegal information gathering.
Lawyers acting on his behalf said the stories were written between 2001 and 2013 and “focused primarily, and in a highly intrusive and damaging way, on the relationships he had established, or rather sought to establish, in the years before he met his now wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.”
ANL strongly denies the claim and defends it alongside lawsuits brought by others, including Elton John, his husband David Furnish, British actor Sadie Frost and campaigner Baroness Doreen Lawrence, whose 18-year-old son Stephen was killed in a racist attack in south London in 1993.
Prince Harry, who lives in the United States with his family, arrived in London alone on Monday to begin a week of talks that coincide with the Supreme Court ruling.
Harry’s wife Meghan (son Archie, 7) and daughter Lilibet, 5, did not travel with him due to safety concerns. Stay with us as we bring you the latest happenings throughout the day.

It is not yet known when or if Prince Harry will see his father, King Charles, during his trip, as the King has meetings and audiences every day this week.
Harry reportedly hopes to reunite his children with their 77-year-old grandfather, who is still undergoing cancer treatment, for the first time in four years.
Harry met his father last September at Clarence House, the King’s home in London, in their first face-to-face meeting since February 2024. This was seen as the first step in improving relations between them.
The Duke, who left the working monarchy six years ago, has made a series of accusations against the King, his stepmother the Queen, the Prince of Wales’ brother and the Princess of Wales in his Oprah interview, Netflix documentary, interviews and autobiography Spare since moving to California in 2020.
Harry cut ties with his family, citing the “toxicity” of royal life and racism towards his wife. He has expressed a desire to reconcile with his father, but Harry’s relationship with his older brother is reportedly still strained.
Buckingham Palace says Harry can no longer stay at royal residence during UK visit

The Duke of Sussex, who arrived in England on Monday, had hoped to stay overnight at his father’s official residence during his visit to London this week.
He will also travel to Birmingham for a number of charity events, including promoting the Invictus Games.
The progress of the trip has been overshadowed by a dispute with the government over security, and the duke’s spokesman said on Sunday that the Duchess of Sussex and the couple’s children would not join him in the capital but could do so when he visits the West Midlands later.
PA Media said it was understood the duke and his family were initially offered accommodation at the palace, but he turned it down on Saturday.
From the palace’s side, it appears that he made a U-turn later that day and asked if he could stay there alone for a night. Harry’s team said a number of long-term security arrangements needed to be made to account for the delay in admission.
However, by then palace officials are said to have believed it was too late to recruit staff. While the palace claimed that every effort had been made to facilitate the duke’s stay, their view was that, as a matter of common courtesy, minimal notice should be given to staff staying at the royal residence. However, it was said that such accommodation would be provided to the duke and his family in the future.
But while this all sounds like a slightly uneducative mess, what really upset Harry’s team was the claim on Tuesday that the invitation was withdrawn for fear the king would be put in an awkward position if a high court judge ruled on a case involving his youngest son.
