Michael Rapaport owns up to getting Trump wrong after years of bashing him
Michael Rapaport details his perspective on the President Donald Trump It changed after the global crisis.
In an episode of Jamie Kennedy’s podcast, “I Hate To Hurt YouThe 56-year-old comedian opened up about how his perspective on Trump has evolved over time, including what led him to move away from derogatory name-calling and adopt a more respectful tone.
“You were angry with Trump. Are you on good terms with Trump now?” Kennedy asked.

“Yes,” Rapaport replied. “But I have my problems and he’s not at all… annoying.”
Rapaport said his views began to change after Hamas attacked Israel and kidnapped hundreds of hostages.
“After October 7, I realized the size and scope of the hostage situation, and it was among cadavers. Joe Biden and Trump and Kamala… I knew there was only one way, one chance, for the hostages held for weeks, then months, and then a year. [Trump].”
“Why don’t I insult him now and I can insult him and I can be degrading to him because for me, taking the hostages home was enough for me to not be disrespectful.”

Michael Rapaport has been outspoken about Trump for years.
Rapaport, who said he has been to Israel nine times in the last two and a half years, said his advocacy has opened his eyes.
“The revelation, the enlightenment and the conversations I had with the families of the hostages, the truth that I saw, it is worth not disrespecting it because I fought, I pleaded, I prayed, I pleaded, at all costs, for the hostages to return home.”
He said people have reached out to him, saying he’s sorry he stopped disparaging Trump, but is inviting those people to “carry the torch” because he’s no longer interested in impeaching the president.
“For me, it was enough to bring the hostages home and to protect Israel’s right to exist. Those two things were enough for me. Some people vote for different things, some people want different things, most of the time you don’t get those things. But for me, it was enough for me to do that, and it was important enough for me to do that. I respect and know that insight into what I saw, who I talked to, that I didn’t discount it just for that.”
“I can still be critical, I can still be frustrated and have it all, but… it was important enough for me to not go on like that anymore,” he added.
Rapaport also told Kennedy years ago when he first began publicly insulting Trump: “I wasn’t as knowledgeable, interested, educated as I was about politics and world politics… I think it’s great to admit that you were wrong, uninformed, misinformed, and out of turn.”

In May, Rapaport said he planned to run against Mayor Zohran MamdaniKnown for its democratic socialist policies, 2029 is coming with its “New York City street fight mentality”.
Rapaport has expressed interest in running for mayor in 2029.
“I never thought I’d even consider running for mayor of New York, and I’m going to do it with the best of intentions. And I’m not going to do it like no other political person has done it,” Rapaport told Chris Cuomo during an appearance on the show. NewsNation.
“The only way to beat this guy is to do it and take it with a New York City street fighting mentality.”
“There’s no way to outdo him. There’s no way to outdo him. I think he’s the biggest piece of crap in the history of politicians… and that’s saying a lot,” he continued.

“But New York City needs to do something. We need to plan right now because 2029 is right around the corner and yes, I’m running for mayor of New York City. And I’ll only leave until I feel like there’s someone more qualified to actually beat stupid Zohran.”
““My bark is much louder than my bite,” he added. “There’s no way to beat this guy, no way to get past this guy with a smile. This must be a dogfight. “It has to be ugly, and that’s what I’m going to do in my campaign.”
