Expired curd, rumali rotis prepared beside washrooms among violations flagged at Hyderabad eateries

Expired curd, unlabeled raw meat and seafood, rumali rotis prepared next to unhygienic kitchens and fly-infested dirty toilets were among the hygiene violations detected by the food safety team of the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) during inspections carried out at several establishments in Hyderabad on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
Chassis prepared with expired curd
At Rebel Food Private Limited in Kondapur, which operates cloud kitchens for brands like Behrouz, Faasos, Sweet Truth, Wendy’s and LunchBox, officials found five packs of curd expired on July 5 and six packs of curd expired on July 8. Officials observed that mint chaa was being prepared using expired curd.

Fire Water Neo Bar and Kitchen Audit
At Fire Water Neo Bar and Kitchen in the Financial District, several prepared food items were given a shelf life of two to five days without any laboratory evidence. Raw crabs, boneless chicken, shrimp, chicken wings, packets of baby corn, and other food items were stored without labels and promptly thrown away. Authorities also found a package of expired mushrooms. Water used for cooking and preparing crushed ice for drinks has not been tested. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian food was stored together in the cooler, there were no labels stating the contents of the food, and eggs were stored without proper cleaning.

Preparation of Rumali rotis near the toilets
At Al Saba Restaurant in Gachibowli, the meat was not stored properly in the freezer. Stagnant water in the washing area, unhygienic workers’ toilets and fly movement within the facility were detected. While Rumali rotis were being prepared next to the toilets where fly infestation was seen, it was seen that the slaughtering area was also unhygienic and there were no separate containers for the remaining chickens. The restaurant had not adopted hot water sanitation of utensils and was unable to produce water test reports.
Inspection at Zepto warehouse in Narsingi
An inspection of the Zepto warehouse in Narsingi revealed that shelves, cases, floors, walls and ceilings were covered with visible dirt. Bags of food were stored without pallets; There was food waste on shelves, in cases, and on the floor, and food and non-food items were not properly separated. The Pest-o-Flash unit in the fruit and vegetable section was positioned incorrectly, posing a potential contamination risk.
At Burger King in Puppalaguda, oil leakage was observed from kitchen equipment and storage cases were not cleaned properly. Food test reports and packaging records were not available.
At KFC in Manikonda, officials detected stagnation of water and bad smell in the washing area. Four packages of cut lettuce, no longer fresh, were discarded at the scene.
