UK weather: Cooler for some over the weekend but heatwave continues

On Friday, the highest temperature in England was recorded in Coton-in-the Elms, Derbyshire, at 35.2°C, while Usk, Monmouthshire saw the highest temperature in Wales at 34.3°C.
Threave, Dumfries and Galloway recorded Scotland’s highest temperature of 29.7°C, while the highest temperature in Northern Ireland was Killowen, Co. It peaked at 27.4°C in Down.
Highest temperatures on Saturday will reach 33 degrees in parts of the west Midlands, south-east Wales and southern England.
Strong winds blowing from the northeast mean that a drop in temperatures will be felt in eastern parts of England.
The North Sea coast from Northumberland to Suffolk may remain cloudy and hazy on Saturday, but it is expected to be much sunnier on Sunday.
Scotland and Northern Ireland will also see more clouds.
The showers in eastern Scotland will end on Sunday and more sunshine will arrive.
Temperatures will be 23 or 24C at best, but eastern Scotland will be cooler.
Temperatures will be a few degrees lower in England and Wales as the wind strengthens on Sunday, but it could still reach 30C in southern England.
