Disruption in water supply to Hyderabad due to pipeline burst

A sudden leak in the 1,000 mm diameter main pipeline running from Lingampally to Banjara Hills under the Godavari Drinking Water Project, which supplies water to Hyderabad, led to urgent repair work on Saturday.
As a result, drinking water supply to various parts of the city continues to be affected. Officials said that the work was being carried out on a war basis and that water supply would be restored to normal once the work was completed.
The affected areas include Erragadda, SR Nagar, Ameerpet, Vengalraonagar, Yellareddyguda, Sanathnagar, NIMS, Banjara Hills, Venkatagiri, BS Maqtha, MS Maqtha and Somajiguda.
Board Director General K. Ashok Reddy instructed the authorities to supply water through tankers to ensure that residents in the affected areas do not face hardship due to the outage.
