Six killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip: medics
Israeli strikes have killed at least six people in the Gaza Strip, including a nine-year-old girl, Palestinian health officials said, as mediators held more talks to preserve a US-brokered ceasefire.
Israeli fire directed at the tent camp on the eastern side of the Al Bureij refugee camp in the center of the region killed nine-year-old Tala Abu Matar, medics said.
The Israeli army stated that it was not aware of the incident.
Four people were killed in an airstrike on a metal foundry in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City.
Eyewitnesses said the area was hit by three Israeli missiles.
The Israeli military told Reuters it had struck “terrorist” infrastructure, without giving further details.
Separately, the army said that since Thursday its forces had killed at least two Hamas fighters in the northern Gaza Strip who were planning an attack on its soldiers.
At least one person was killed and several others, including children, were injured in an attack on a tent camp in the Mawasi district of southern Khan Younis later Sunday, medics said.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the matter.

A ceasefire reached between Israel and Hamas in October 2025 halted major clashes in the strip but failed to stop Israeli attacks that have killed more than 1,000 Palestinians since it came into force.
During the same period, four Israeli soldiers were killed by militants in the region.
The latest violence comes as Hamas leaders visit Cairo for further talks on the implementation of the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s Gaza Strip peace plan.
According to sources close to the talks, the talks also include the disarmament of Hamas and the withdrawal of the Israeli army, and it is stated that no progress has been made yet.
Almost all of the Gaza Strip’s two million people, many of whom have been displaced several times, live mostly in makeshift tents or damaged buildings on a small strip of land along the coast under Hamas control.
Hamas-led fighters killed 1,200 people during a cross-border attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, according to Israeli records.
Gaza’s health ministry said more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed in the area since then.
