Sharing an update on X, the fire department urged locals living nearby to keep their windows and doors closed.

They said: “We are at the scene of a serious fire at a recycling center on Kings Weston Lane in Avonmouth.

“Teams continue to work to control the fire and emergency services are ready.

“All personnel on site were evacuated safely and no injuries have been reported at this time.

“If you live or work nearby please continue to keep windows and doors closed and stay indoors as much as possible to prevent smoke from entering your property.

“Kings Weston Lane remains closed between the A403 St Andrews Road and Long Cross. Please avoid the area and be prepared for disruption.

“We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.”
