Robert Pattinson’s The Batman Part II Gets Another Delay, Will Release in 2028

New Delhi: The wait for Robert Pattinson’s next Batman movie has become longer and the sequel has been delayed once again. Director Matt Reeves has confirmed that Batman Episode II will be released on February 18, 2028, nearly six years after the first film was released in March 2022. Reeves announced the new release date on Vimeo and also shared the first camera test footage of Robert Pattinson’s return as Batman, giving fans a first look at the actor’s return as the Dark Knight. In addition to Pattinson, the sequel stars Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch. Reeves co-wrote the script with Mattson Tomlin. However, the makers have not revealed any details about the story or the characters played by the supporting actors.
The film was originally planned to be released on October 2, 2026, then was postponed to October 1, 2027. The film has now been delayed again to 2028, with Warner Bros. giving Reeves more time to complete post-production work. Previously, DC Studios co-chief James Gunn had defended the long gap between the two films, saying such delays were common for big-budget sequels. He cited films such as Alien, Avatar, The Incredibles, Top Gun and Guardians of the Galaxy as examples of franchises that have long gaps between movie releases. “To be fair, a gap of 5 years or more is pretty common for sequels,” Gunn wrote on Threads at the time. “Seven years between ‘Aliens’ and ‘Aliens’. 14 years between ‘The Incredibles’. 7 years between the first two ‘Terminators’. 13 years between ‘Avatars’. 36 years between ‘Top Guns’. And of course, six years between ‘Guardians Volume 2’ and ‘Volume 3′.” According to Variety, Warner Bros. It also changed the release dates of several upcoming films. JJ Abrams’ mystery movie The Great Beyond, starring Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega, has been moved from November 13, 2026 to October 1, 2027, the date previously reserved for The Batman Part II.
Meanwhile, Sam Esmail’s Panic Careously, starring Julia Roberts, will now be released on April 9, 2027, after a slight delay from its early February release date. Revenge of La Llorona will take over the streaming slot on February 26, 2027.
