Prince Harry may have taken Meghan Markle and her children to Princess Diana’s final resting place during their reported visit to the United Kingdom, according to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, but there is no confirmation that the visit took place.
Speaking to GB News, Fitzwilliams said he believed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have traveled to Althorp Manor in Northamptonshire, where Diana is buried, while her family was in Britain.
Harry, 41, was reportedly seen leaving the property on Saturday ahead of his latest engagement in the UK, where he joined around 200 young people for a goat yoga session.
The Duke of Sussex had previously stated that he wanted to take Meghan, 44, and their children, 7-year-old Archie and 5-year-old Lilibet, to visit Diana’s grave. Meghan has visited Althorp before, but there is no official confirmation that any of the couple’s children went on the trip.
Why does Richard Fitzwilliams believe the family visited Althorp?
Fitzwilliams suggested that the visit may have taken place away from the public eye.
He said: “We don’t know how long Meghan and the kids stayed.
“We assume they must have visited Althorp and seen Diana’s grave.”
His comments reflected his own assessment of the family’s movements, and there was no official confirmation that such a visit had occurred.
What did Harry say about security concerns?
Questions about whether Archie and Lilibet would travel to the UK centered on Harry’s long-standing concerns about security arrangements, GB News reported.
After the children’s plans to visit Britain were announced, Harry’s application for some level of security protection was rejected by the Home Office and the Executive Committee for the Protection of the Royal Family and Public Figures (RAVEC).
The duke later said he would continue to “explore every option available to ensure the visit proceeds safely and gives his children the opportunity to enjoy the UK”.
Fitzwilliams said the security dispute had clouded the start of the visit.
“The first part of the trip was a complete mess,” he said.
“The security situation may change. There is a threat, there is a follower, we know.
“Security issues are very much at the forefront at the moment. The situation has not been satisfactorily resolved.”
He added: “I think people thought he was going to make it and I thought so too.
“He hasn’t, and so far he still hasn’t, but that doesn’t mean he won’t in the future because safety is so much in the news right now, so it could happen.”
What was talked about the family’s visit to England?
Reports suggested that Meghan and the couple’s children traveled to the UK later in the visit, but details of their movements have not been made public.
Separate reports also revealed that the family was married to King George III. He claimed to have met Charles and Queen Camilla at the King’s private residence, Highgrove, in Gloucestershire. Buckingham Palace has not released photos or details of any private family gatherings, and the Palace has not publicly confirmed the reports.
According to reports, Archie and Lilibet did not accompany Harry to the London meetings due to ongoing security concerns. It is not yet confirmed how long the family spent in the UK.
Fitzwilliams said that although no changes to current arrangements have been announced, he believes Harry will be able to spend more time with Meghan and their children in the UK if the security issue is resolved in the future.
