Jill Biden claims double standard in media coverage of Biden vs Trump

Former First Lady Jill Biden sat down with “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg in June to promote her memoir, “A View from the East Wing,” and discuss her life, politics and media.
When Biden was asked how his wife’s presidency was covered in the press, he did not hold back.
Goldberg moderated the session. 92nd Street Y event Last month in New York, the former first lady was asked whether she believed the press had fairly portrayed former President Joe Biden’s four years in office.
Jill Biden hesitated in her answer, saying, “You know, I think probably, I mean, seeing how things are right now, I don’t know. I don’t know. I’ll have to think about it.”

The former first lady suggested her husband’s administration could have done more to build stronger relationships with the media.
“But you know, maybe we could have done more to be more open to the press, so they could understand us as real people and not puppets. That’s something I regret, maybe we could have had closer relationships.”
Biden suggested there was a “double standard” between coverage of the Biden administration and the current Trump administration.
“You know, if Joe had done any of what’s happening right now, I mean, he would have been charged,” he said.
“Oh yeah,” Goldberg said with a chuckle.
The former First Lady continued: “But, you know, it’s like there’s a double standard. And I don’t think it’s fair or just.”

Biden also pushed back against Democrats who criticized the memoir, saying it unnecessarily exposes controversies in the 2024 election.
During a book event in Washington, D.C. in early June, Biden was specifically asked about former Biden White House spokesman Andrew Bates’ comments on his book. Bates said of his book: “I don’t see why this painful conversation for the party should be reopened to the public at this time.” New York Post.
Biden claimed that there was “only one chapter on politics” in his book and said, “I want to say this to Andrew: Call me and say it to my face, man.”
