Watch: £4m crypto fraudster handcuffed in bed | News

A fraudster who was part of a gang that stole £4 million through cryptocurrency scams was arrested as he lay naked in bed.

Kevin Nwamma, 25, appeared surprised when officers burst into his Watford bedroom and handcuffed him in November 2025.

Nwamma, 29, of Clarendon Road, Watford, Anthony Ikenwe, 29, of Bata Mews, East Tilbury, and Hamza Bashir, 23, of Beverley Way, Wimbledon, impersonated police officers to tell their victims their cryptocurrency was at risk and persuaded them to give their account details or transfer the money to what they believed were the victims’ official police accounts.

The cryptocurrency was immediately stolen and laundered through a complex financial network. Money was taken from eight known victims.

On Thursday, July 16, the gang was sentenced to a total of 28 years and nine months in prison.
