Following political outrage, the Tamil Nadu Director General of Police handed over the investigation to CB-CID on July 15.
A source said the searches were carried out at the homes of a registrar, real estate broker and those who signed the documents as witnesses in Dindigul, Palani and Oddanchatram districts to investigate irregularities.
Justifying the searches, State Law Minister CTR Nirmal Kumar emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into fake land registration cases, especially those related to temples, lakes and water bodies in the last five years.
