Roy Keane sent his fellow pundits into hysterics yesterday by labeling the World Cup final half-time show ‘anti-climate’ – but said ‘It’s always nice to see Shakira’.
The 54-year-old Irishman drew laughter from Gary Neville, Ian Wright and ITV presenter Mark Pougatch as he described the entertainment at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium.
Shakira, 49, showed off her muscles in a pink and yellow sequined dress to perform her hit Dai Dai with Burna Boy.
The halftime show also featured performances by Madonna, Justin Bieber and the Muppets.
Asked what he thought of it, Roy replied: ‘It was a bit exciting but I think the people in the stadium probably enjoyed it more than we did. But it’s always nice to see Shakira.’
Echoing Roy’s comments, Ian said: ‘I felt like maybe he needed to be a bit more optimistic and give us a bit of a boost. ‘I felt a little bad.’
But Gary said: ‘I quite enjoyed it. Let’s hope the second half picks up and there’s plenty of energy.’
Amused by Roy’s comment, one fan joked to X: ‘Roy Keane is happy to see Shakira. ‘I see a man of good taste.’

The futuristic segment began with 67-year-old Madonna singing Music, accompanied by Ronaldo Nazario and Ronaldinho, who won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002.
The toned music legend showed off her stocking-clad legs and held hands before embracing the pair and taking them into the stadium.
Justin, 32, made a very different impression on the crowd when he came out with nothing but a guitar in hand to sing a World Cup-themed version of his song “Everything Hallelujah.”
The star looked relaxed as he walked onto the pitch before singing his hit song and adding the final line: ‘It’s the World Cup, Hallelujah’.
K-pop sensation BTS entertained the crowd with Dynamite.
Spain became champions after Ferran Torres scored a goal against Argentina in extra time.
