Three British Pakistani men charged with rape in child sexual exploitation probe | UK | News

Three men have been charged with rape following an investigation into historical child sexual abuse. The men, all British Pakistanis, are accused of crimes committed between 1996 and 2003 against 10 girls who were aged between 12 and 16 at the time of the alleged crimes.

Ashfaq Khan, 46, of Bury, was charged with 36 charges including rape, attempted rape, indecent assault and false imprisonment. Zaheer Iqbal, 52, of Accrington, Lancashire, is charged with four counts of rape and two counts of false imprisonment. Qamar Jehangeer, 38, of Bolton, Manchester, is charged with four counts of rape. The charges follow the launch of Operation Sky, a “complex and sensitive” investigation focusing on the town. In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers are working with trauma-informed support services to protect and support everyone affected. They continue to work long term to ensure their safety and wellbeing is the number one priority.”
