Student organizations SFI, AISF, PDSU and AIFDS Telangana held a Chalo Lok Bhavan protest in Hyderabad on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, demanding the removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and expressing solidarity with the ongoing student movement at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
The protest, which started from Khairatabad junction towards Lok Bhavan, was stopped by the police before reaching the venue. The organizations claimed that the participants were forcibly detained and taken to Asifnagar Police Station.
Addressing the media, leaders of the four organizations said the protest was part of a nationwide campaign highlighting concerns over the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, exam irregularities, paper leaks and the broader crisis in the education sector. They also expressed support for students and youth protesting in Delhi and described the police intervention there as an attack on democratic rights.
Leaders of the organizations accused the center of trying to suppress student movements rather than addressing students’ concerns. They reiterated their demand for Mr. Pradhan’s immediate dismissal and blamed him for failures in the education system.
