Rep. Ayanna Pressley responds to shooting at husband’s Boston home

Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., said she was “victim-centered” after an 18-year-old woman was shot and killed Saturday at a Boston home owned by the congresswoman’s husband.
The victim’s family said the victim was 18-year-old Yoseliani Marte and died as a result of domestic violence. Boston police have not publicly identified him, confirmed that description or announced his arrest.
“You know, as someone who advocates for accountability and healing for survivors of all crimes, yes, my heart is heavy,” Pressley said.
She continued, “I’m really victim-centered right now. And that’s what we all need to do.”

The victim was found dead from a gunshot wound at the home of Pressley’s husband, Conan Harris, to whom she had been married since 2014.
In a GoFundMe post, the family identified the victim and claimed she died as a result of domestic violence. The mother also claimed she knew who might be responsible, according to Boston 25 News.
“As the mother of an 18-year-old daughter, I am currently excitedly planning to take her to college as a freshman,” Pressley explained.

“I am devastated for the family affected.”
Authorities have yet to publicly identify the victim or announce any arrests in the death at the residence in Boston’s Mattapan neighborhood. Police reports obtained by Fox News Digital say the victim suffered a single gunshot wound.
“This young girl we don’t know is 18 years old,” Pressley said. “I’m sure he has his own plans and dreams that have been cut short.”
A spokesperson from Pressley’s office told Boston 25 News that neither the congressman nor his family were involved and that Pressley extends his deepest condolences to the family and loved ones affected by the tragedy.
The house is a two-family residence, rental property, where neither Pressley nor Harris lives. It is on sale for $1.15 million.

It is not yet known whether Marte lives in the house where he was found dead.

The mother also told Boston 25 News that she is focused on getting justice for her daughter, that “everything will come out” and “everything will come to light.”
Boston police said the manner of death is under investigation.
