World Matchplay 2026: Cameron Menzies receives medical care after being taken ill on stage

Cameron Menzies required medical attention after falling ill during his World Matchplay second round match against Ross Smith in Blackpool on Wednesday.

Leading the match 2–1, Scotland’s Menzies walked off the field and appeared unsteady on his feet, while England’s Smith and the referee safely led him off the stage.

It was later confirmed that Menzies was released by paramedics backstage but was unable to return to the stage to continue and therefore lost the match.

The PDC said: “Cameron suffered high blood pressure, which caused him to become dizzy and then faint.

“Following an evaluation by the medical team on the field, it was determined that Cameron was well enough to return to his accommodation.

“We wish Cameron the best and look forward to seeing him back in action soon.”
