Committee To Assess Palani Temple Properties

Chennai: To put an end to the controversy over the loss of properties allegedly belonging to the Palani Dhandayuthapani temple, the State government announced the formation of a committee comprising officials from HR&CE and revenue department to investigate allegations of illegal registration of properties of the temple and prepare a report depending on what action to take.

The announcement was made by HR and CE Minister C Ramesh, who said action would be taken based on the findings of the committee, which will be headed by the joint commissioner of Trichy district. Other officials connected with the protection of temple properties would also be part of the committee, which was recommended to submit the report as soon as possible.

Earlier, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami had announced that his party would hold a protest on July 25 to protest against the huge allegation that the temple property was illegally registered by the TVK government and demand a CBI probe into the same.

He said the protest will be held near Palani bus stand in the rountana from 9.30 am and will be attended by senior leaders of the party like Dindigul Srinivasan.
