Envoy Harish Slams Pakistan at UNSC

new York: India on Wednesday (US local time) criticized Pakistan for using cross-border terrorism as an “instrument of state policy” and reiterated that Kashmir will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India. These remarks were made by India’s Permanent Representative to the US, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, at the UN Security Council’s High-Level Open Debate on Natural Resources Governance: The Foundation for Peace, Security and Prosperity. He accused Pakistan of “misusing” a high-level debate to “spread its false narrative”.
“It was not our intention to raise other issues in this forum, but my delegation had to respond to Pakistan because Pakistan chose to misuse today’s debate to peddle its false narrative,” the Indian envoy said in his speech. he said. “The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has always been, is and will remain an integral and inalienable part of India. This is the constitutional and legal reality that Pakistan has deliberately chosen to ignore.” Ambassador Harish further said, “The only outstanding issue regarding Jammu and Kashmir is Pakistan’s open aggression and illegal occupation of India’s sovereign territory.” he said. Talking about the Indus Water Treaty, he doubled down on Islamabad for using cross-border terrorism as an “instrument of State policy”. “Our position on the Indus Water Treaty remains clear and consistent. When cross-border terrorism is regularly practiced as an instrument of State policy, cooperation on the basis of mutual trust and good faith cannot be expected.” In her closing remarks, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish urged Islamabad to resolve its own internal problems before judging others.
“Pakistan would serve itself and its people much better by putting its own house in order rather than blaming India.”
