They became best friends – then discovered they were brother and sister

“I asked if we could go and bring him back,” Urmston said. “He explained that it didn’t work that way, so I promised him I’d find him one day.”

Now they were finally getting back together.

“He’s wanted this since I was young, as far back as I can remember,” Urmston said, “so yeah, I gave him that. I promised him that.”

There was a baby picture of Green on the mantelpiece at Susan’s house.

He was sent to his biological mother by his adoptive parents days after his adoption.

The same photo was displayed at his adopted parents’ home.

Green knew he was adopted since he was 10 years old; His adopted parents had shown him the paperwork.

But he says he had a very happy childhood and never harbored any desire to track down his biological mother.

“I didn’t feel like I had to go searching or had unanswered questions,” Green said.

For all three of them, finding each other was a life-changing experience.

“There weren’t a lot of positive things going on in my life at the time, I found out my best friend was my sister,” Green added.

“I realized that my birth mother could really make him happy. And I found a family that I never knew existed.”

Their mother died recently, but they both say they are happy to be reunited with her son.

“He was so desperate to find you, to make sure you had a really good life,” Urmston said.

For Urmston, the reunion is both bittersweet. He had been longing to find his brother for years.

“Unfortunately, my mother and father separated and I had a very difficult time knowing this. [Dave] it was there but i didn’t know it [where]”

Both say they are now making the most of their time together after moving in with each other in Kidsgrove, Staffordshire. They say it’s their “lottery win”.
