Families of four men in their 20s who died after a car crashed into a lamppost in Merseyside have paid tribute to their loved ones. Police were called to reports that a black Seat Cupra had gone off the road after crashing into a lamppost in Liverpool Road, Huyton, just before 2am on Friday morning.

Jack Diggle (23), Benjamin Dooley (23), Andrew Roberts (24) and Craig Shackleton-Brady (26) died at the scene. Merseyside Police said the car was traveling from Liverpool towards Knowsley. All four families released tributes on Sunday.

Mr Diggle, a proud Everton supporter, was described by his family as “kind, quiet, thoughtful and loving”.

His mother said: “The loss of Jack has left a void in our lives and hearts that can never be filled. “We will carry him with us every day and miss him for the rest of our lives.

“Our Jack, our gentle giant, we love you beyond words and will forever. Rest in peace my son.”

Mr Shackleton-Brady was described as a “dedicated and loving father” and a “loyal and generous” man to his two children.

“Above all, Craig will be remembered for his good heart, his devotion to his family and the happiness he brought to others,” his family said.

Mr Dooley’s mother Kerry said his life was “falling apart”. She said her son was the “kindest person” she knew and had a “heart of gold.”

His older sister, Demi, said she felt her brother’s death was like a “horrible dream.”

Mr Roberts’ family said: “Our worlds have been shattered and we are waiting for you to walk through the door saying this was all a dream but it will never come true.

“Life can change in an instant, and Andrew’s passing is a painful reminder of how precious every moment truly is.”

It was stated that the condition of the fifth passenger, who was taken to the hospital, was stable.

Neighborhood residents explained the accident and what happened afterwards.

A woman told Liverpool Echo: “I was still awake, the explosion was so loud I thought a truck had overturned. I looked out my window and there was smoke everywhere.”
