Arsonist father who killed six of his children in a house fire ‘is going to make a bid for freedom’
An arsonist who killed his own six children to look like a hero struggles for his freedom.
According to information obtained, arsonist Mick Philpott, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, is preparing to apply for parole next May.
Philpott set fire to his house, where his six children were sleeping inside. He aimed to save the children from the upstairs window and hold his girlfriend, with whom he had a custody fight, responsible for the fire.
But the plan went horribly wrong when too much gasoline was used and the fire got out of control, killing the children.
Duwayne (13), Jade (10), John (9), Jack (8), Jesse (6) and Jayden (5) died in the fire.
The father of 17 was ‘encouraged’ by news of Labour’s now-paused plan to release prisoners early despite the plans not working for him, a source told The Sun.
He also told his friends that he thought he had been ‘rehabilitated’ during the 14 years he spent in prison.
Philpott was said to be obsessed with sex and boasted of his welfare-funded lifestyle; Police revealed this brought him an income of £60,000 a year.

He even appeared on the Jeremy Kyle show, where he advocated getting both his wife and his mistress pregnant at the same time.
Philpott, who was previously jailed for stabbing his schoolgirl girlfriend 27 times, spun a web of lies to get away with the crime and even hatched ‘get rich quick’ schemes with generous donations from the local community to pay for his children’s funeral expenses.
In the days following the fire, Philpott began his elaborate ruse to appear innocent and even attended a press conference to seek information.
He and Mairead shed tears for the cameras as they talked about their children.
During a two-week police surveillance at the hotel where they were housed in May after the fire, the couple were heard whispering about the incident, and Philpott was recorded telling his wife to “stick to your story.”
The judge described the plot as an ‘evil and dangerous plan’ that was ‘beyond the comprehension of any right-thinking person’.
Philpott remains at HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire after being sentenced to life imprisonment for manslaughter.
While Philpott will be eligible for parole next year, he will need to appear before the Parole Board, which will then consider whether he still poses a risk to the public.
