Speedboat killer Jack Shepherd admits attacking woman with barbecue tongs after prison release

Speedboat killer Jack Shepherd has pleaded guilty to violent assault, including attacking a woman with barbecue tongs, a year after his release from prison.

The 38-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and damage to property at Isleworth Crown Court via prison video link on Tuesday.

The attacks occurred in February and June last year and led to Shepherd being jailed.

He was first sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2018 for manslaughter after 24-year-old Charlotte Brown died when her speedboat crashed during a first date.

Shepherd skipped the Old Bailey hearing while on the run in Georgia before being extradited to the UK to serve his sentence.

He was released on license in January 2024 but faced being jailed again in September last year after being accused of violence against a woman.

In court on Tuesday, Shepherd pleaded guilty to three counts after prosecutors dropped two other counts of controlling or coercive behavior and intentional strangulation.

Shepherd made his guilty plea via a video link from HMP Swaleside in Kent.

He admitted pinning and punching the woman in February 2025, hitting her in the chest with barbecue tongs in June 2025, and damaging her keys the same month.
