A domestic abuser has been caged for three years after brutally attacking a pregnant woman in an alley, kicking her in the stomach after knocking her to the ground. Lincolnshire Crown Court heard that in July 2025, Lathan Middleton, 35, first punched the victim eight times in the face, leaving a suspected broken nose.

In another violent attack in December of the same year, Middleton attacked the woman and knocked her to the ground in an alley while she was six weeks pregnant. He then kicked her in the stomach because he knew she was pregnant.

When Middleton went to the woman’s home to collect her belongings in May this year, he attacked again and grabbed the woman by the throat as she left.

BBC reported Middleton, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of strangulation with intent.

Neil Sands, defending Middleton, said his client accepted the best mitigation was for him to plead guilty.

“He did not conduct a frivolous trial and put the victim in this situation,” Mr Sands added.

Middleton must serve an additional two years on extended license following his release from prison after Judge Catarina Sjolin-Knight ruled he was a dangerous offender.

Sentencing, Judge Sjolin-Knight told Middleton: “You are consistently violent, it is your fault, certainly not that of a pregnant woman.

“You kicked her in the stomach. She was pregnant and you knew it.

“You left him in the alley for 10 minutes where an old couple helped him.”
