Priyanka Gandhi slams Centre for ‘inaction’ on Wayanad rehabilitation

Congress Secretary General and Wayan Deputy Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, July 30, 2024, the survivors of Choralmala and Chooralmala in Kerala and the hundreds of landslides in Munlakkai’daki allegedly rehabilitation of the central government.
Ms. Gandhi, who brought the issue to the agenda on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, asked the central government to reconsider the decision to provide an inadequate loan assistance for Wayanad.
“Hundreds of people lost their lives in the disaster. Seventeen families were completely destroyed. Approximately 1,600 buildings and hundreds of acres of agricultural lands that affect the livelihoods of small traders and farmers were destroyed.”

Although the center refused to declare Wayanad as a national disaster, the tragedy was later classified as a high -intensity disaster. However, he said that the benefits of this classification have never reached Wayanad.
‘Serious flaws’
Later, Mrs. Vadra, who appealed to the media, asked the government to renounce the loans of people affected by the disaster. He said that there were serious flaws in the form of rehabilitation by the Kerala government.

Despite the generous help of people, he said that the survivors were fighting.
Ms. Vadra said she could not participate in the anniversary program in Wayanad on Wednesday due to “very important” discussions in parliament.
