Laura Dahlmeier: Olympic star dead after mountaineering accident in Pakistan

The management said that Dahlmeier died on 28 July – the day of the accident.

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier said Dahlmeier was “Ambassador for our country around the world and a role model for peaceful, cheerful and fair together between the borders”.

Dahlmeier, an experienced mountaineer, represented Germany at the two Winter Olympics, which won two gold and one bronze medals in PyeongChang in 2018.

He was the first woman to win sprint and quest in the same games, and in May 2019, he won 15 medals, including seven gold in five world championships before he retired from competition.
