On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump announced that India was called “friends”, but will be subjected to 25% tariffs in exports with additional penalties for the purchases of Russian oil and military equipment. Measures will come into force as of August 1st.
Trump, who socially publishes the truth, said, “Even though India has been our friend, we have done relatively less work with them for years because their tariffs are very high-and any of the most strenuous and unreasonable trading barriers of any country among the highest levels in the world.”
He also criticized India’s defense and energy ties with Moscow and said, “India bought the majority of its military equipment from Russia and remained as Russia’s largest energy buyer at a time when the global community wanted Russia to stop killing in Ukraine.”
In a separate article, Trump emphasized that the deadline for August 1 is “strong and not expanded”.
In response to the announcement, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that the Indian government noted that the US President of the US reported about bilateral trade.
