A series of sun baths that love themselves on a beach in Spain, during an air show in Gijon, was shocked after a fighter plane was opened after noticing a lot of birds. The images from the event, the fighter plane EF-18A Hornet, turns upside down and dives sharply towards the sea before pulling the last moment, and thousands of beach players gathered for the air screen.
In a statement about the incident in the Spanish air and space force X, he said: ”One of our f-18 fighters made a furred maneuver after detecting a flock of birds in the way. This action is part of the standard protocol to protect both the pilot’s safety and the security of the people.
“In this case, the pilot acted with exemplary speed and professionalism, avoiding a possible collision without compromising the exhibition.”
Although the maneuver was dramatic, the pilot successfully prevented a collision and continued the flight without incident, showed remarkable sensitivity and calmed under pressure. This year’s event, which participated in more than 250,000 spectators, was the biggest participation in the history of the festival.
Founded in 2006, the festival became one of Spain’s leading aviation events and attracted spectators to San Lorenzo Beach every year. In the center of this year’s screen, there was an EF-18A Hornet, an £ 21.7 million American multi-fighter aircraft.
Spain bought the Hornets fleet in the 1980s and became the first European operator of the plane. Since then, the Spanish donkey has played an important role in NATO -led tasks, including war operations in Bosnia and Kosovo, where the Aviano Air Base in Italy and the air patrol sorties flying.
More recently, in July 2024, Spain’s contribution to NATO’s Baltic Air Police Mission, which is part of the Baltic Sea, which was part of a Russian Su-30sm, appeared as a Spanish EF-18A.
The incident underlined Hornet’s permanent role in both national defense and international security operations.
