Lack of school facility for tribal children: SHRC registers case

The Kerala State Human Rights Commission has recorded a Suo Motu case for the lack of school facilities for six children aged five to six years of age in the tribal settlement of Mangapparakudi under the Chinnar Wildlife Protected Area in Idukki.
The Commission took the case based on news reports about the absence of school facilities.
SHRC President Alexander Thomas issued a directive to the IDUKKi collector to provide an emergency meeting of the district training officer and related officers within four weeks.
The Commission also ordered that the relevant authorities should be personally ready to explain the details before the commission in a session planned at the Thodypuzha PWD Rest House on 2 September.
