Joan Rivers convinced me to pursue stand-up two weeks before she died, comedian Cally Beaton reveals on new Mail podcast

The legendary artist Joan Rivers told me to leave my life as a TV manager and follow Stand-up two weeks before he died, comedian Cally Beaton announced a new mail Podcast.
In a conversation with Posta columnist Bryony Gordon, 56-year-old Beaton said Rivers inspired Rivers ‘re-invention of middle age’ and gave him confidence in doing his first stand-up concert.
Before his comedy career, Beaton, as a single mother, climbed the television industry staircase to the senior vice president in Viaacom, where he helped develop big shows such as South Park and Spongebob Squarepants.
His new book Namaste Motherf*Ckers follows his journey from the corporate manager to a comedian and guides women with middle age burnout and other mental health problems.
Beaton told Podcast in a statement, ‘I was lucky enough to meet some amazing people during my career’.
We would go to Cannes and host industrial events-Hollywood A challenges, which brought new shows to the forefront, would come and hope that tired managers would invest in them.

“ I met Joan Rivers in one of these events – I worked with him several times and went to get to know him well.
I never thought of Joan as a typical feminist before I met him. But of course, when women didn’t do what they did, Hollywood was exploding from the glass ceilings.
‘I owe him a lot of Joan, who told him to me, I can’t try to stand up a few weeks before he died.’
Beaton announced that Rivers had identified comedy potential during his speeches in industrial events.
When the Beaton doubts about being too old to make such a career pivot, the experienced artist offered some wisdom about why he was never too late to follow the things that make you happy.
The rivers died of complications after a routine endoscopy procedure in September 2014.
The Beaton said: ‘I was45 years old and I told Joan was too late to enter a comedy. One of my children has special needs and I needed one day work.
“ `Looked at me and said: I am 81 years old; 45 years old, you’re still thick. I think you should try to stand up. He died two weeks after that conversation.
