Conor McGregor urges Irish citizens to sign petition that would 'ensure' spot on country's presidential ballot

Conor McGregor said he was running to become the president of Ireland in March – now he aims to make a picture.

McGregor’s first announcement for running for the president came a few days after he met President Donald Trump, earlier this year.

The former champion opposed a draft law on the EU Migration Agreement.

“Ireland should fully implement the EU migration agreement until June 12, 2026. So now and between June 12, 2026, both Oireachtas has to pass by both houses and signed by the President … Who will withstand the government and will oppose this bill?” McGregor wrote in March.

McGregor criticized the Irish government in the White House to raise awareness about the “problems faced by the people of Ireland”.

McGregor did not fight for breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in 2021. He had to come back last year, but his foot injury kept him away from the octagon. Since then, he said he would return only in a stadium, but he was interested in the UFC event in the White House next year.
