Girl, 4, dies after tragedy at Waterworld theme park

A four-year-old girl died after an incident in a swimming pool at the Waterworld Tema park in Stoke-On-Trent.

Staffordshire police said in a statement in the Hanley venue: “On August 4 (4 August), we were invited to Waterworld on the Festival Road for a four -year -old girl’s reports.

“West Worlds staff and West Midlands Ambulance Service, colleagues, medical officials treated the girl at the scene before taking her to the hospital for more treatment.

“Despite the best efforts of the hospital staff, the girl died soon.

“The next relative of the girl was informed and is supported by specially trained civil servants.”

Detective Chief Inspector Lucy Maskew from Staffordshire Police said: “Our thoughts are with the family in this very sad time.

“Now we’re doing an investigation and we want to determine the conditions of the incident.

“We will ask the people of the people to avoid speculation in these early stages of the investigation and allow the family to mourn.”

A Waterworld spokesman added: “We learned that this little girl will pass this evening.

“In these extremely difficult times, all our thoughts are with their family and loved ones.

“Waterworld is in shock and decided to remain closed to the family tomorrow.

“Waterworld works close to the authorities at this sad time.”
