Day care worker forced siblings to fight each other: Cops

A Georgia day-care worker is facing charges after she was accused of forcing children to fight and then shaking one of the kids.

Riffat Tahmin Khalil, 37, was arrested last week and charged with three counts of cruelty to children, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to CBS affiliate WRDW in Augusta, the incident involved two siblings at Discovery Zone Kids in Evans on July 28.

ABC affiliate WJBF reported the children were ages nine and six.

Police said officers spoke with a parent and was told that the day care contacted her to pick up her children after an incident between the children.

According to the incident report, the mother told cops her kids were upset and said “the teacher, Ms. Khalil, made them fight.”

When officers arrived at the day care, video footage was given to police by the owner.

The accused told the siblings to fight, and after the dustup, the day-care worker forcibly grabbed one of the kids, swung her into a chair and shook her several times, according to allegations in a police report.

The accused then told one of the children to throw a chair at the other, alleged police.
