Britons booking later, closer, shorter UK breaks, travel firms say

Travel companies report, British holidaymakers then leave home for shorter stay.

Some of the largest holiday companies in the UK told BBC.

Booking.com says that the number of people looking for their sites for a trip to England in the next six weeks increased by 28% last year, and Airbnb said more British “embrace spontaneous getaways close to the house”.

Pitchup.com advertising about 3,000 UK camps, says that one -quarter of this year’s reservations have notified only two days.

Sykes Holiday Cottages with 23,000 properties throughout the UK says that the gap between reservation and travel fell 8% this year.

Airbnb “All signs point to a summer that guests choose quieter, affordable places again”.

‘The whole industry sees this’

At Holiday Park in Skegness of BuLin, people make a little later reservations than previous years – 22% reservations in the last two weeks.

“I think the whole industry sees it.” Says.

“We have seen a real fluctuation in the last few weeks,” he adds. “We have three, four and seven nights for different people’s budgets.”

Kelly says short breaks may be more appropriate for families.

“Easy. You can get much more when you stay in this country. There are many beautiful places in the UK.”

Nigel Dutton is the owner of Manor Wood Country Caravan Park. He realized that people later made reservations to benefit from good weather in England.

“Short breaks look like the name of the game right now,” he says.

“People can prepare, they are all budget, so they know exactly how much they will cost them.

Chelsea from Manchester and Adam Mahony did this. They reserve a camp trip improvised with men Gray and Rex.

“We decided that we couldn’t go abroad this year this year, so we bought a cheap tent online and just try something closer to the house, Chel says Chelsea.
