Pakistan Punjab’s Monsoon Death Toll Rises To 166, Heavy Rains Lash Several Cities In Province | World News

Lahore: Monsoon death member in Punjab state climbed 166 to 166 on Saturday after two more deaths were reported from Sialkot and Jhelum. According to the Pakistan Meteorology Department (PMD), Sialkot recorded the heaviest rainfall at 78 mm, then Lahore 43.4mm and Gujranwala’yı 36.8mm recorded. Other recorded figures include Chakwal (23mm), Attock (13.6mm), Mangla (12.2mm), Gujrat (10.6mm), Narowal (5mm), Rawalakot (4mm), Islamabad Airport (3.9mm) and Mandi Bahauddin (0.5mm) and Pakistan’s Dawn news.
While hot and humid conditions are expected to continue in most of the Punjab, the PMD was estimated in the northeastern regions of the province, Potohar Region, Islamabad, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Environmental Hills.
Provincial officials referring to the data released on August 8, confirmed 164 deaths and 82 injuries about monsoon events this season. In addition, 121 animal husbandry died and 216 houses were destroyed in Punjab.
In Lahore, the provincial capital, the rainfall started at 13:30 and lasted until 16:30 in the water and sanitation agency (WASA), Pani Wala Talab (86mm) reported the highest rainfall, then Farrukhabad (85mm), Lakshmi Chowk (83mm) and Nishtar Town (81mm). Other affected regions include Gulberg (60mm), Chowk Nakhuda (57mm), Iqbal Town (45mm), Johar Town (44mm) and Samanabad (43mm), Gultaba-I-Ravi, Qurtaba Chowk, Jail Road and Tajpura.
Model Town, Kot Lakhpat, Peco Road, District, Green Town, Factory Area, Muslim Town and Garden Town, including water accumulation in various regions have been reported. Nishtar Park Sports Complex flood, Saturday evening planned ‘Independence Family Entertainment Race’ led to the cancellation.
In many parts of Lahore, electric supply has broken and opened due to more than 120 nourishing downpour.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a warning for a low level flood in several rivers. As of the latest update, the Tarba dam is 96 percent, the water level is 1.546 feet, the mangla dam is full of 63 percent with 1.205.25 feet.
Low flood was reported in the Chashma Dam of the Indus River. However, other large dams, including Tarba, Kalabagn, Taunsa, Guddu, Sukkur and Cottri, continue to show normal flow levels. Jhelum, Sutlege and Kabul rivers are also flowing within the expected boundaries.
The Ravi River lives small floods in Basanttar Nullah, but the main course is not affected. In the meantime, the hill torrents in the Koh-ı-Suleman series and the dry Dera Ghazi Khan Department was not reported.
When the monsoon season was at the top, the PDMA General Manager called on the public to use it very carefully near the water bodies. Chapter 144, along rivers, channels and streams, forbade swimming or bathing to prevent accidents.
