Cricket Fraternity Questions HCA’s SGM

Haydarabad: Haydarabad Cricket Association (HCA) announced today that it will hold a special general meeting at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in UPPAL. Vice President Sardar Daljeet Singh said that the meeting was gathered to discuss and evaluate the changes in the rules, arrangements and goodbye laws of the association.

The decision was officially approved during the Apex Council meeting on 8 August. Singh called on all affiliated members to join. SGM is gaining importance by the CID in connection with the allegations of corruption in IPL ticket sales, as it follows the arrest of three senior office carriers.

However, the decision to continue the SGM received a sharp criticism from HCA’s former cricketists, professionals and past rulers. Many questioned the timing of the movement, the legality and the moral grounding. They asked how such a meeting could be held when the problems around the postponed Annual General Assembly (AGM) were not solved. Some pointed out that the current APEKS Council may not be inadequate to call SGM and will not doubt its authority.

Another concern was that 57 suspended member clubs would be invited to participate and whether to be invited to. Critics argued that the excluding members would weaken transparency and legitimacy in changing the laws of BYE.

Moral questions were also brought to the agenda and many of them asked the stance of an APEKS council, which was confronted with allegations of corruption, including the common secretary. He warned that members under suspicion can be used to allow them to change their laws and protect individuals instead of strengthening management.

The powers of the acting chairman also took over the examination and the managers questioned that a guard leader would not force comprehensive changes in the structure of the association. Members of the Cricket Brotherhood warned against what they defined as a suspicious exercise in changing HCA’s basic rules.
