Man dead after smoke forces evacuation at Guildford, Sydney

After cooking unattended, a man died after filling his unit with smoke in West Sydney and forced him to evacuate him and another person.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday in the Guildford suburb.
A police spokesman said the deceased man was believed to be in his 60s.
The alarm was upgraded at 3.45 on Sunday and the firefighters ran to the block of units in Calliope Street.
A fire and rescue NSW spokesman said two people have evacuated themselves.
One of the people was seriously ill despite the medical intervention and died at the scene.
Sözcü said that the unit was not burning, but it was filled with smoke.
He said it was a common event seen by firefighters who caught food fire.
More details of the cooking device used have not been approved by the authorities.
