Angela Rayner warned thousands of new homes at risk of dangerous lead pollution

A housing project that can provide 3,500 houses to support the home construction driving of Angela Rayer in Kent was paused in allegations that dangerous bullet pollution from a neighboring refinery could risk future residents.
The project, where the government plans to quickly monitor new developments and build 1.5 million houses, would see thousands of houses alongside Europe’s leading refineries in Brownfield Land in Gravesham.
The planning permit was initially given by the Gravesham District Council after a planning application in October 2022, but the project says that the Britannia refined metals (BRM), the owner of the refinery because of the fear that its location would make it dangerous for the inhabitants, says that the region is the “bullet pollution point”.
The developers turned to new houses, saying that the government needs a radical response, including the government’s “confirmation of the controversial development.”
The program has a home, commercial area, a new hotel and a new stadium for Ebbsfleet United Football Club.
In May, a planning investigation was opened and it lasted four weeks before postponing. It is expected to continue next month. After submitting the findings of the investigation, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) will decide whether the project can continue.
While the refinery worked safely under strict controls for decades, BRM warned that everyone living in the proposed residential area will be highly exposed to bullets.
BRM, said in a statement at the opening of the investigation, “This is a bullet pollution hot point – you can put the development of housing anywhere in the south -east of England and the lead concentration will be lower than the application site,” he said.
“And the people who came to live on the site would be much higher than they came here.”
They warned that “there is no safe level for the exposure of bullets:“ The health and neurotoxic effects of the bullet have no specified threshold, and children are among the most vulnerable to their effects even at low levels.
“Bullet exposure can be harmful and prevented by not bringing residents close to bullet pollution.”
The World Health Organization may lead to “high blood pressure, cardiovascular problems and kidney damage risk in adults that the exposure of lead exposure to more than 1.5 million deaths globally in 2021 may affect the development of the central nervous system in children”.
The development plan includes community gardens and allocations near the Refinery – BRM brands are “irresponsible an idea.
Rafineri, “Imagine the stage, including filtered air units, including helmets, including full -preservative outfits wearing brm facilities working in a few meters working children.
However, the developers rejected BRM’s warnings as a “technical and operational cluster”.
“The BRM operation and plan may exist together without unreasonable requirements,” he said.
The presentation continued: “The Minister of Foreign Affairs made a radical response as necessary in the planning world of planning the scale of the national housing crisis in which this Gravesham situation formed a part of this Gravesham.
“Trying to offer much more houses is the main purpose of the government’s national planning reforms, but the application should be local and involves considering the most important one.
“Against this background, it is clear that 3,500 houses will be a tremendous step in the delivery of housing for residential delivery for previously developed, previously developed land. The program will make an important contribution to pressure on local and national needs.”
The government’s updated National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) has the strategy of the Brownfield First ”strategy with unused sites that have been given priority for new buildings in the past.
When a developer tries to build on Brownfield sites, the default answer will be “yes ,, but the government says that these sites will not be enough for the number of houses needed.
In the meantime, the planning and infrastructure bill to be released soon aims to break down the bureaucracy and to obtain approval for projects.
However, there are concerns that the urge to hit the housing goals can force social housing to be inappropriate places without appropriate guards.
The Northfleet Harborside project will include 350 affordable housing units with 10 percent of the total housing area.
After the investigation is closed, the inspector shall prepare a report and suggestion to take into account the ministers in MHCLG. It is understood that after the receipt of the report, the ministers will have 13 weeks to make a decision.
Speaking in December, Sir Keir Starmer said that the government is “determined to do what is necessary to build enough houses.”
“We didn’t have enough house for years. This means that individuals and families do not have the safety they want,” he said.
“Of course we want to make the balance with nature and the environment correctly, but when it comes to a person who wants to have a host for themselves and their families, this should be the greatest priority.”
For the comment, MHCLG, BRM and Northfleet Harborside were contacted.
