Swatch apologizes for ‘slanted eye’ ad after online backlash in China
Story: Swiss watchmaker Swatch issued an apology at the weekend after being criticized with an advertisement in China.
In a ‘inclined eye’ pose, he drew ads containing the images of an Asian male model that attracted the corners of his eyes up and back.
The images of the Swatch Essentials collection were condemned online in China.
Many comments said that they mimic racist regiment movements about Asian eyes.

Swatch issued an apology on Saturday on the Weibo social media platform.

Swatch Group did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for more comments.
AD Fallout was the latest setback for the company.
His shares have fallen more than half since the beginning of 2023 and face 39% tariff in exports to the United States.
Swatch also held Omega and Tissot watches and relied on China, Hong Kong and Macau for about 27% of the group sales last year.
The stocks in the company fell approximately 3% in early transactions on Monday.
