The 71st National Film Awards were announced on Friday, August 1, 2025 for films certified by the CBFC in 2023. The Kerala Story won two awards for Sudio Sen and Prasantanu Mohapatra for the best cinematography. The jury was called for rewarding the Islamophobic and propaganda film Adah Sharma Starrer.
In an recent interview with PTI, an experienced actor Mithun Chakraborty called the film’s win as “false intellectuals”. “The people in the Jury were not from Kerala, they came from all over the country. They thought that this film should receive a national award, but then there was a lot of fuss about it. So when you talk about the truth, there will be people.”
The 75 -year -old actor will be seen in Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘Files’ trilogy in the third film, Bengal Files, the third film after the Tashkest files and Kashmir files. Mithun took part in the two previous films. The upcoming version revolves around the Calcutta rebellions on August 16, 1946, and triggered after the All-India Muslim League was called to request a separate homeland on the day of direct action on action. Calls were made to ban and boycott Bengal files.
Mithun is upset that when filmmakers describe the truth, they were rejected as “propaganda”. “If we talk about the truth, this is called propaganda. Should our generation know what happened to Noakhali, what happened to the murders of the Calcutta? We did the Kashmir files and Tashkent files. Do you want to know what happened to the Great Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji?
Chakraborty criticized people for targeting Bengal files. Agnihotri faced the sabotage of the trailer launch event of his film in Kalcutta and had to change the place at the last minute. The Trinamool Congress, led by MAMATA BANENEREE, described the film politically motivated and led to a boycott and prohibition call.
“People did not see the trailer and ‘banned’ said. What is in the trailer to be banned? Nudity has passed in the name of cinematic freedom, but there is no such thing in this film. Violence is a part of life and if you accepted it,” Disco dancer has resulted.
