New photos released of two males behind ‘targeted’ shooting in Markham

Investigators have released new images of two male suspects sought for shooting a man outside of his home in Markham last week.

York Regional Police, who have previously released video from the shooting scene, say officers responded to the home near McCowan Rd. and 14th Ave. around 5:20 p.m. on Aug. 14.

“When officers arrived, they located a man suffering from a gunshot wound,” Const. James Dickson said Wednesday, explaining the victim was taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The culprits arrived at the man’s home in a grey Honda CR-V sport utility vehicle, which Dickson said has since been recovered by investigators.

“At this time, investigators believe that only two suspects are directly involved in the incident,” he said. “Efforts are currently underway to determine whether additional suspects may be connected to this crime.”

Police have now released new images of the two unidentified suspects hoping members of the public will recognize them and come forward.

While previously released video showed a gunman dressed all in black, the new images depict two Black males, wearing grey hooded sweaters and black track pants.

“The latest photographs, which are not from the shooting scene, indicate that the shooter changed clothing between the time of the shooting and when the suspect vehicle was abandoned,” Dickson said. “This tactic is a common practice among criminals in attempts to avoid detection.”
