Union Home Secretary takes stock of implementation of new criminal laws

Union Interior Minister Govind Mohan organized a video conference with the Chief Secretary K. Vijayandand and police Harish Kumar Gupta General Manager on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

On this occasion, Mr. Mohan asked the existence of the necessary infrastructure and technology in police stations, courts, prisons and judicial laboratories for the implementation of the laws and emphasized the importance of filling the judicial ecosystem on a contract basis with appropriate people.

He told the Chief Secretary and the DGP to fully record the audio and video images in the areas where the crimes occur, that is, at the scene of the crime, and to include all the furnaces in E-Sakshia. He also proposed that courtrooms, prisons, judicial scientific laboratories, government offices and other places be equipped with video conference facilities that will facilitate the effective implementation of the Criminal Laws replaced by the Criminal Procedure, Indian Penal Code and India’s Law of Evidence.

In addition, Mr. Mohan praised innovative measures made by the AP police in fields such as training and capacity development, zero fir, e-firm, monitoring of organized crimes, monitoring of judicial science laboratories, SMS and e-mail services, integration and complaints with SMS Alerts with CCTNs.

Mr. Vijayanand said that video conference systems are already present in the government offices at the division and latch levels, including collections, and that it is provided elsewhere.

Mr. Gupta said that steps were taken to record all the Fir’s E-opportunity system. Prisons General Manager Anjani Kumar, additional DG N. Madhusudhan Reddy, Prisons Varaprasad and others attended the prisons.
