CCPA Fines Rapido ₹10 Lakh for Misleading Ads

With a strong movement to protect consumer rights, Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), publishing misleading ads and participating in unfair trade practices Rapido (Roppen Transportation Services Pvt.

The CCPA also directed the driving greeting platform to repay all consumers who received the “LA 50 area automatically in 5 minutes” but have not received the promised compensation.

The CCPA’s probe found that Rapido’s ad Automatic automatic ”and“ automatically or ₹ 50 buy ”in 5 minutes were wrong and misleading. The promised ₹ 50 real money is not only a 7 -day time, which is valid for bicycle drives. While the waiver was exhibited in small, unreadable fonts, responsibility changed in a misleading way to individual captains instead of Rapido.

The data showed 575 consumer complaints against Rapido between April 2023 and May 2024, which rose to 1,224 complaints between June 2024 and July 2025. Many complaints about refusal, excessive wages, lack of service and not being able to honor the 5 -minute warranty.

Considering that Rapido carried out this misleading campaign for about 1.5 years in 120 cities in multiple regional languages, CCPA called the Consumer Protection Law in 2019 and called for a direct corrective action.

The authority reminded consumers to remain awake about exaggerated claims in advertisements and to report misleading ads or unfair practices through the National Consumer Aid Line (1915), NCH application or website.
