Dentons Link Legal was legally processed against the Indian Bar Association Council (BCI) and challenged the last public statement and why the company condemned the alliance with the global legal giant Dentons.

The petition filed before the Supreme Court of Delhi points to a significant rise in the tensions between the Indian legal regulators and the companies pursuing international relations.

Dentons Link Legal said in a statement on Thursday, “The Littish demonstration cause notification and expression judicial authority, violation of natural justice and the fundamental rights of petitions do not have a violation.”

BCI claimed that the Dentons-Link legal alliance was “unauthorized and unacceptable” according to the 2023 rules regulating foreign law firms. He also stated that such partnerships require pre -approval in the Indian Bar Association for registration and registration of foreign lawyers and foreign law firms in India.

On the other hand, Dentons Link Legal called them arbitrary, contrary to the constitution and discriminatory by trying to break the changed rules. The company argues that its structure complies with the Law of Lawyers and does not require registration as a foreign or hybrid law company.

BCI’s demonstration notification has requested detailed documents about the structure, management and operations of the firm, and the warning that it is not a stimulus may lead to penalties in accordance with the law of lawyers, including declarations for professional abuse.

BCI’s jurisdiction within the scope of the 1961 Advocats law, occupational behavior and disciplinary practices and the management of foreign legal entities are comprehensive. It works as an institutional organ with independent authority.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court of Delhi led BCI not to make any final decisions about the demonstration notification until the next hearing. The bench also asked BCI and the Ministry of Law and Justice to explain how Dentons Link Legal was published.

The Court said, “In accordance with the notification of the show, we provide an answer and the proceedings may continue, but we cannot make a final decision until the next hearing date,” he said.

Dentons Link Legal also argued that BCI’s request for the customer -related documents violated the privilege of advocacy under the norms of Bharatiya Sakshya Adhniyam, 2023 and professional confidentiality. The company warned that such explanations can endanger commercial secrets and competitive position.

The petition also claims that BCI’s actions are early and selective, especially since the amended rules are still reviewed by a committee and the people initiated in June 2025 are subject to the consultation of the people initiated in June 2025.

In his statement on August 5, BCI expressed concerns about foreign law companies operating in India through structures such as Swiss Vereins, strategic alliances and joint brand initiatives. He warned that such arrangements are unacceptable in accordance with their rules if they are indifferent.

“Such structures… to customers and in general actual Integrated legal practice in judicial regions, including India. ”
