A former detective, who established a relationship with a victim of a sex crime in which he was investigated, was found guilty of abuse in a public office.
The Independent Police Behavior Office (IPC) launched an investigation into a 55 -year -old Wasim Bashir’s behavior after a woman’s complaint.
While working for West Yorkshire Police (WYP) and without any cause of the police, Bradford -based detective contacted serious sexual crimes and a woman who declared a domestic abuse.
The officer, who had an expert in rape investigations before his retirement in June, began to establish sexual intercourse with him.
He was cleared of a second abuse in a public office in the direction of a judge in Sheffield Crown Court.
He was detained and will be sentenced on 29 August.
After conviction, IOPC Director Emily Barry said: Dc As a police officer, DC Bashir, for sexual purpose, held a significant power to abuse his position.
“Although he was an officer with 28 years of service, Bashir clearly ignored the rules designed to protect the people and protect the trust in the police.
“Actions can only weaken confidence in policing.
“I want to praise the courage of the woman who stands out to report the behavior of DC Bashir’s behavior that is well below the standards expected from a police officer.
“We encourage any person who believes that such crimes may be a victim by a police officer to come to the forefront with confidence to be taken seriously.”
Waiting, Bashir’in rape and serious sexual crimes as expert researcher experienced experience before, that is to know that the survivors would be vulnerable, he said.
He was also trained in the abuse of the position for sexual purpose, so he might know that his actions were unacceptable.
The investigation said that Bashir was subjected to sexual activity, including the relationship, and found a woman with a woman on three separate occasions while investigating the sexual crime she reported to the police.
Bashir, without consent, presented them as a couple by presenting them online as evidence that he and the woman had published photos of him.
Despite abandoning power, a disciplinary hearing on the future of violations of professional standards will be held in the future.
WYP said the counter corruption unit was investigated in the direction of IOPC.
After the trial, Natalie Dawson, WYP’s Vice President of Vocational Standards Directorate, said, “It is nothing more than hate to keep sex with a vulnerable woman who stands out to declare that a police officer is a victim of a sexual crime.
Orum I would like to give assurance to the victims of crime and a wider public because this former officer is not the representative of our establishment.
“One of the main objectives of power is to protect vulnerable people, and our officers and staff work without fatigue to protect people from damage and protect the victims.
“In a public office, we acted quickly to suspend Beşir after the potential abuse was reported.
“Later, a comprehensive investigation was carried out in the IPC administration to understand the other victims he contacted and the nature of this contact.”
