Labour to abolish most short prison sentences in England and Wales | Prisons and probation

Next month, ministers will make legislatively to eliminate most short imprisonment, forcing community penalties, and to provide a system that inspired by Texas, where prisoners can be released early as part of the attempt to prevent another prison crisis.

British and Wales together have the highest prison population per capita in Western Europe. Gauke said that prisons could be unfinished again in spring without change.
