Man arrested after woman racially abused while England flags were painted on homes

A man was arrested after being shared with the online of a woman in the Houses of Essex and a racially abused woman’s St George’s Cross.

The clip seems to show red cross painting on the white walls in the apartments above a shop on the Whitmore Way in Basildon, Essex.

A third person can paint men and watch a young girl watching.

At one stage of the video, a woman wearing a headscarf can be heard racist abuse when she passes with some children.

Gavin Callaghan, the leader of the Basildon Council, welcomed the patriotic spirit of those who hanged the British flags along the district, but warned against criminal damage and said: “Racism has no place in Basildon.”

On Saturday, August 23, Essex police arrested a 33 -year -old man on suspicion of a racial aggravated public order crime and conspiracy to damage criminal damage.

The investigation was questioned while continuing and released on bail.

The Chief Inspector Paul Hoben said: “Regardless of anyone’s thoughts or opinions, it is clearly a crime to cause damage by applying paint to people’s properties.

“In addition to this simple truth, some language directed to a member of the people in this event was embarrassing.

“I am sure that the majority of the people in Essex share the view that this language has no place in our district.

“We have received many reports on this, and it is true that we only move on to them.

“We are always working to ensure the security and security of everyone in Essex.

“Such behaviors do nothing to advance any argument or to touch on a valid point beyond being damaging our region and causing innocent people to cause distress, alarm and fear.”

The police are evaluating the video, but addresses more information or concern officers who can help them.

Cllr Callaghan admitted that Basildon was one of the many places to be discussed in the flags of St George in recent days.

In a statement, he said: “I think it is great to proudly fly our flag. Many people show the pride that many people feel in our community.

“I explained that we would not download any flag with the civil servants at Basildon Council.

“The majority was fixed to the street lamps, which are responsible for the Essex District Council, and they will decide whether they are standing. Personally, I hope they do it.

“But I want to be clear too: there is a big difference between a flag flying and vandalism. Painting in people’s shops or council buildings is not patriotic, but criminal damage.

“This is not the way to show love to your country. You do not honor England by vanding Basildon … Racism has no place in Basildon.”
