Australia Post partially suspends US postage over tariffs

Australia Post suspends several services to the US in response to the tariffs of the Trump administration.

The government’s agency announced a major change on Tuesday morning and said that many other countries have done the same state carriers.

“As a result of recent changes for the postal goods sent to the US and Porto Rico, the Australian post will temporarily suspend the postal services from 26 August 2025 to the next notification,” he says.

“This response is compatible with the actions carried out by many international postal operators.”

The Australian Post said that the US government required the prepaid of tariffs before the arrival of an element and scrapped the tariff exemption in incoming goods under 800 US dollar.

Suspending parcel is valid for the employment contract, mypost business and retail customers.

Gifts, letters and documents are not affected by the change in 100 US dollars.

“Australian Post works with Zonos, an authorized US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), to provide a solution that will allow services to serve for a employment contract and employment contract after starting.

“These customers will receive communication from the Australian Post about what they should do to be ready for the time this solution is published.”

The Australian post warning was released on Tuesday and entered into force immediately.

“The postal goods sent to the USA and Porto Rico on August 26, 2025 will not be accepted by the Australian Post until the next announcement.”

Australian Post Parcel and Post Manager Gary Starr said that US customs and border protection only warns mail agencies against change.

“Australia Post is focused on providing a reliable and competitive postal service for customers sending international parcels.

“Guidance from the CBP has only been published recently and we are working at Pace to find a solution, like more than 190 other postal providers,” Starr said.

“We were disappointed that we had to do this action, but because of the complex and rapidly developing situation, a temporary partial suspension was required to allow us to develop and practice a applicable solution for our customers.

“The Australian Post continues to work with the US and Australian officials and international postal partners to continue mail service to the USA.”
